Certainly the opposite has happened — employees have been fired based on comments on social networking sites. According to one study, at least 8% of surveyed companies had terminated an employee based on internet postings. (This article has a copy of the Facebook posting that has circulated the internet where the employee comments about her boss, and her boss then responds by terminating her.)
